Fear in the Storm

John 6:16-21

Hurricane Harvey brought many fears. First, there was fear of not getting out. After the rains slowed and many were trapped, if not in their homes, in their neighborhoods there was fear of running out of clean water and food in the grocery stores. In the days after the flood, there was a new fear of what would happen to the home and the belongings in the home. Anxieties swirled as things in the home came to mind. When people could finally get back to their home it was a sinking, ominous feeling and fears of the future surfaced. In times like passages like this one. What do we hear?

Jesus says simply, “It is I; Do not be afraid.” It speaks powerfully to our different levels of fear.
